The importance of incorporating into your work

The world is bonkers and it’s easy to prioritize deadlines and productivity over fun – heck, we all do it but to our detriment. Fun is not frivolous; it is an integral part of how we see and enjoy the world and especially important to how we connect with each other. Not only that but FUN enhances creativity, strengthens team dynamics, and is an essential part of our overall well-being.

Okay, okay, okay. I may seem hyperbolic but please indulge me as I use the “rule of three” to not only share three ways that I believe FUN is integral to incorporate into our work but also leave you with three ways to incorporate more FUN into your workday! Oh and, of course, I will be using the word FUN itself to help me along the way because it is only three letters long.

Find ways to incorporate more creativity into your work.

For women entrepreneurs, creativity is essential to what we do. Fun activities like brainstorming sessions that turn into games or team outings that foster camaraderie can stimulate fresh ideas and perspectives. By stepping away from the routine and engaging in FUN experiences, you open the door to innovative solutions and creative breakthroughs that can propel your business forward.

Understand your team dynamics (or if you’re a solopreneur, what gets you excited?)

A cohesive team is vital for the success of any business. Fun activities build trust and communication among team members and foster a positive work culture. Whether it’s a lighthearted team-building exercise or a celebratory event, these moments of shared joy create lasting bonds, making your team more resilient and effective. And, if you’re a solopreneur, how can you break out of your routine or connect with others for a fun outing? It doesn’t have to be expensive or intricate, how about checking out the WBO calendar to find something new to join?

Notice what brings you joy

The entrepreneurial journey is rewarding but can also be stressful. Fun acts as a natural stress reliever, releasing endorphins that improve mood and enhance overall well-being. Engaging in fun activities can significantly reduce stress and anxiety. It provides a mental break from the pressures of daily responsibilities and can improve overall mental health. And, if you’re a solopreneur, loneliness can impact health as severely as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. By joining a group like WBO, you can become part of a group that brings fun events into your life!

I hope I have given you three solid reasons to incorporate more FUN into your work, now let me share three practical ways to do that!

First and foremost, start every meeting (or day) with a QOTD: If you haven’t learned yet, I love acronyms (and so can you) QOTD stands for Question of the Day. Not sure what to ask? Check out National Day Calendar to find out what is happening on that day. Every day is a holiday; all you have to do is to know about it and celebrate it. It sure beats asking questions like “anything fun planned for the weekend,” this gets people thinking and celebrating!

Upon reaching milestones, it’s essential to celebrate achievements: There’s nothing more significant than acknowledgment—whether it’s your 100th client or your 25th event. Share these moments on social media with fun music and images. Whatever the occasion, make it a celebration!

Not sure where to start? Participate in WBO events! They always have networking events and workshops that combine learning with enjoyment. These events provide valuable support while also being fun and uplifting.

As you can see, FUN is not frivolous—it’s a powerful tool that can enhance your business’s success and your personal fulfillment. Let’s embrace a work culture that celebrates joy and connection, and together, continue the legacy of women supporting women in Montgomery County.
